We are a group of Silver Mesa parents who want what is best for our school staff, teachers and students. We believe this can be achieved through a PTO. The district has a policy allowing parents a vote. We first must complete a Notice of Intent and petition and then we will be allowed a vote. This blog will help educate, inform and unite through this process. Keep updated on what is going on here. UPDATE: You should have received a ballot in the mail. If you didn't and want to vote, contact the district. We encourage everyone to study both organizations and vote for the group they believe best represents their ideals.

What are we about

I can't believe it has been such a short amount of time since this blog started. A lot has happened and a lot of information has been shared, but I want to get back to the basics. This blog was started to help get the word out about what is happening

at our kids school and in our district. Originally some parents wanted to discuss what school support group was best for their school (PTA or PTO). This wasn't in reaction to anything. This was because some parents don't like that money leaves the school to support the State and National PTA and that the local organization doesn't have the power to make decisions that are best for the school. These same parents DO NOT have a problem with our school PTA. Our local PTA is filled with AMAZING parents who are doing a GREAT job. This is all about CHOICE. We believe parents know what is best for our school and students. Now that the district has approved a policy the parents have a CHOICE.
