We are a group of Silver Mesa parents who want what is best for our school staff, teachers and students. We believe this can be achieved through a PTO. The district has a policy allowing parents a vote. We first must complete a Notice of Intent and petition and then we will be allowed a vote. This blog will help educate, inform and unite through this process. Keep updated on what is going on here. UPDATE: You should have received a ballot in the mail. If you didn't and want to vote, contact the district. We encourage everyone to study both organizations and vote for the group they believe best represents their ideals.

First of Its Kind

Good news! We submitted the completed petition today. The district will verify the signatures over the next few days and as long as everything looks good we are on to the next step; a vote.

Thank you to all those who signed the petition and all those who helped collect the signatures. A signature on the petition wasn't a vote for one organization or another. All parents will get the opportunity to vote for a group in January. We encourage everyone to look at both organizations (PTO & PTA) and decide for themselves which group best represents their ideals and goals.

This vote is the first of its kind in the Canyon's school district. No other school has given their parents an opportunity to vote and decide which group is best suited for their school. Watch for a ballot in the mail after school begins in January. We look forward to the vote!
