Scare tactics are being used to make parents fear change.  People have learned to use social media as a weapon, and a few people putting out false information can really stir up lots and lots of people who may not know any of the real facts of the situation.  Are you falling for these tactics?

Starting a PTO

For the amount in dues we sent away this year, we could easily have paid for any start-up costs associated with a PTO.  The biggest start-up cost is filing a 501(c)3 (non-profit) application with the IRS. This is a one-time fee. After the initial year, our school would be saving around $1,000 in dues that we typically send away to national, state, and council levels of the PTA.
